Perched above the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Aurora Residence in South Yarra, Melbourne is so named for its ethereal atmosphere, sense of renewal and heralding of light.
We Are Triibe leveraged the apartment’s expansive proportions, statement skylights and overall tranquil ambience to give rise to a warm, private gallery aesthetic — as smooth and fluid as a softly sung lullaby.
The generous skylights bathe the living areas in light, which is layered in a neutral materials palette of mixed materials and textures to orchestrate a symphonic living experience. The interior decoration process centred around a few lifetime investment pieces that served as the cornerstone, such as the iconic sofas from Baxter and Cassina, whose generous scale welcomes large family gatherings and sets the stage for rest and contemplation.
The living room plays a dual role as both a welcoming environment for living and a casual workspace. To meet these needs, a sculptural solid timber desk sits adorned with brass detailing to create a fluid connection between the living and working spaces.
Deeper in the apartment, another story unfolds with a dark palette of forest green and blackened timbers, creating a cocoon-like space to house the daily rituals of cooking, dining and sitting fireside with family and friends.
The result is a sophisticated and uplifting sanctuary. It’s a space for the owner to live in harmony with her activities and rhythms and to invite family and friends to gather in its warm embrace.
